Starting Over vs Growing in a New Direction
Well folks, this photographer may soon be pulling up her roots and moving to a new town and maybe a new state. My husband is taking a new job that is two hours from where we live so yes, we will eventually be relocating. You may say that, “some people commute two or more hours to work”. Yes this is true, however, my husband now commutes between 1.5 to 2 hours one way to where he presently works, and he hates it. He works hard for us and always, and I do mean always has my back. If I come up with some crazy idea for a photo shoot, he helps me create the sometimes, crazy props for my art. He is that kind of guy. If he will be happier at this other job, than I will stand by him and move so his commute will not be as hard. Besides with less of a commute, he can enjoy more family time with me.
Sunday, March 27 was our twelve year anniversary, and we spent the weekend checking out the areas that we may want to live. We rode around looking at the small towns and the countryside. Of course, we would never live in the town area, my husband likes the country with few neighbors and some acreage. We were also scouting which towns would work best for my studio. I am also playing around with the idea of have two studios, keeping the one in Stewartstown and opening a second one close to where we will be living. I could work between the two of them. Just an idea at this point. My clientele, has grown so much in the last year, I really don’t want them feeling as though I am deserting them.
I am the first to admit that moving is a major undertaking, when we moved into the home we are living now, almost five years ago, I was positive I would not be moving again. Of course it is a little scary also, to move to an area where I don’t know anyone. To compound things, marketing my business in a new location causes me a little apprehension. I have to look at it, as if it is a magical, new adventure where we will experience new and exciting things. Yes, I am like a child, this keeps me uplifted and in a great mood, usually.
I do like doing new things, I like learning new skills, meeting new people, and having new experiences. I also believe that things happen for a reason. We should look at everything as opportunities. I truly believe this is how we grow. I am also very grateful for all the people in my life, all the opportunities, and the challenges. It is in the challenges that help build our character and it is how we respond to these challenges that define who we are. Life throws things at us, sometimes it may be good things and sometimes not so good. We have to take the rain with the sun. Could you imagine the negative effects of having no rain. The flowers would not grow and show their beautiful colors and fragrance, without the rain. As we humans would not grow and show our wonderful beauty without a few challenges.
I just wanted to let everyone know what was happening recently with me. So this is it, Within the next six months to one year, we will probably be moving. Exciting, scary, and surprising, it is but everything happens for a reason, and it is not our place to ask why, just say “Thank you”.
Also remember the “Story Book Sessions” that I am offering for a children’s charity will be running through the end of May, so if you know someone that have kids 3 years and up, please tell them about it. Here is the link for more info
Until Next time
Namaste,
